LANDSCAPE CHARACTER

As part of the development of Touching the Tide, we commissioned Alison Farmer Associates to write a Landscape Character Assessment (LCA) of the Suffolk Coast. Landscape Character is what makes an area distinct; what makes the Blyth estuary, say, different from the upper Alde.  The LCA sets out the special qualities of the different parts of the Suffolk Coast, and describes the local distinctiveness that Touching the Tide aims to celebrate and conserve.

The study is written in non technical language and you may find it helpful for all sorts of other purposes - or just interesting to read!  You can download it (NB - it's a large file, 4.3MB). You can also download a larger version of the Coastal Character Areas map shown here.

You're welcome to quote from the LCA or use it to support your own work provided that you acknowledge Suffolk Coast & Heaths AONB's copyright.
